Curse - 23Unofficial

By E-S0$a

Dark sounds and hard sliding 808s are always a classic sound in UK Drill. This song by 23Unofficial gives us that vibe easily. From the start of this track it felt epic and ready for a grand entrance. The piano riff to start the song with the intro was great. The bass drop was sudden and it smacked at the right time to make a good drill song. 23Unofficial did a good job of riding the powerful beat. He had a nice relaxed cadence and consistent rhyme patterns and flows within this song.

The song Curse is focused on the struggles 23Unofficial had on his come up in life. He used to be poor and broke, and even as he has progressed, he feels that life still puts a curse on him. The song explores thoughts of existentialism and nihilism deeply.

Here are some of the lyrics that stood out:

Two weeks in the same tracksuit
From time, yeah, manna been a bad yout (Ayy, ayy)
Done 'nuff things that I wish I ain't have to (Ah, ah)
Remember them days on the block? Them days were a lot
Used to get a chase from the cop
Pray they wouldn't raid up the spot
I was raised where it's hot, uh (Ayy)
Swear it's all different now, I used to go sleep dreaming 'bout a fifty thou'
Free all the guys cah they ain't with me now (Nah)
And free all of my niggas, I wish you was right here so I can share these moments with ya

This song was coproduced by Elevated and HONEYWOODSIX. Both of them are up and coming in drill production within the London scene, and they did a great job on the sound and production of this one.
